RNDr. Jan Daňhelka, Ph.D., works as a deputy director of hydrology of the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute. He graduated from the Faculty of Science at the Charles University in Prague, majoring in physical geography, where he later obtained a doctorate. In the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute, he worked as a hydrologist and later as head of the prediction department and since 2010 as deputy for hydrology. He is an external lecturer at the Faculty of Science. Since 2012 he is a member of the Advisory Working Group of the Commission for Hydrology WMO and a chairman of the National Committee for Hydrology. He professionally deals with the particular problems of prediction and influence of meteorological and climatic phenomena on hydrology.
