Ing. Jana Poórová, PhD., in 1985 she graduated from the Faculty of Civil Engineering Slovak University of Technology in the Department of hydraulic engineering and water management. Immediately after she joined the Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute in Bratislava, the Hydrology Division, where she works at present, since 2005, as its director. In 2007 she graduated PhD. study on water-resource balance. Dr.Poórová within SHMI leads hydrology, the State Water Management balance, she is responsible for the State Hydrological monitoring and statistical analysis of hydrological data, etc. She participates in the National Climate Programme of Slovak Republic. She is a member of the Slovak Committee for Hydrology IHP within UNESCO and hydrological adviser to the Permanent Representative of the Slovak Republic to the WMO. She is a member of many international and national working groups dealing with water issue including implementation of EU Directives. She participates in the process of national water issue law making.
