Officially, it is\u00a0a\u00a0test of\u00a0the\u00a0competence of\u00a0laboratories, which takes place under the\u00a0auspices of\u00a0the\u00a0Centre for Assessment of\u00a0Laboratory Competence (ASLAB), in\u00a0the\u00a0field on\u00a0which the\u00a0given laboratory focuses (hydrobiological, microbiological, chemical, or radiochemical). The\u00a0compliant laboratory subsequently obtains a\u00a0certificate.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0last multiparametric circular sample in\u00a0the\u00a0field of\u00a0hydrobiology was prepared at\u00a0WRI TGM in\u00a0Prague under the\u00a0ASLAB auspices by RNDr.\u00a0Ladislav Havel,\u00a0CSc., and RNDr. Blanka Desortov\u00e1, CSc., in\u00a02019.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0opportunity to\u00a0prepare a\u00a0circular sample for the\u00a0year 2022 was offered to\u00a0me at\u00a0the\u00a0Determination Course of\u00a0Copepods, which is\u00a0organized every spring by a\u00a0group of\u00a0zooplankton specialists of\u00a0the\u00a0Czech Limnological Society (Limnospol). Due to\u00a0the\u00a0great interest in\u00a0the\u00a0sample from among the\u00a0zooplankton specialists from the\u00a0water management laboratories of\u00a0the\u00a0Povod\u00ed state enterprises, there was no reason to\u00a0hesitate, and together with the\u00a0Department of\u00a0Ecology \u2013 Hydrobiology of\u00a0Charles University in\u00a0Prague and Limnospol, preparations began. First, I consulted Ing. Hana Kohoutov\u00e1 from ASLAB. Since it was supposed to\u00a0be a\u00a0sample focused exclusively on\u00a0the\u00a0qualitative determination of\u00a0zooplankton, we agreed to\u00a0evaluate a\u00a0circular sample outside the\u00a0ASLAB system. The\u00a0preparation of\u00a0the\u00a0samples itself was preceded by a\u00a0consultation with RNDr. Blanka Desortov\u00e1, CSc., who has extensive experience with such samples. Species that were represented by a\u00a0large number of\u00a0individuals had to\u00a0be selected for the\u00a0samples. Simultaneously, it was necessary to\u00a0separate these species from the\u00a0original sample in\u00a0which they were located, so that the\u00a0resulting circular sample was as\u00a0clean as\u00a0possible and it was clear to\u00a0the\u00a0participants at\u00a0a\u00a0glance which species they were to\u00a0determine. Part of\u00a0the\u00a0preparation for me was also the\u00a0creation of\u00a0an \u201cadvertising\u201d sticker \u201cCircular sample 2022\u201d, by which the\u00a0laboratory or office could show their involvement in\u00a0testing the\u00a0circular sample. Once the\u00a0samples were ready, one of\u00a0them went to\u00a0RNDr.\u00a0Martin \u010cern\u00fd, Ph.D., to\u00a0the\u00a0Department of\u00a0Ecology \u2013 Hydrobiology, where my work was checked, and subsequently with the\u00a0financial support of\u00a0Limnospol (RNDr.\u00a0Michal \u0160orf, Ph.D., bursar) I was able to\u00a0send a\u00a0sample and a\u00a0sticker to\u00a0all participants. Seven samples travelled to\u00a0the\u00a0water management laboratories of\u00a0the\u00a0state enterprises of\u00a0the\u00a0Vltava, Elbe, Oh\u0159e, Morava, and Odra basins. One went to\u00a0Mendel University in\u00a0Brno. The\u00a0whole preparation took me about a\u00a0month. Participants received their sample on\u00a020 July 2022, and the\u00a0deadline for submitting results was set for 30 September 2022.<\/p>\n<p>Each sample contained 11 species, which consisted of\u00a0representatives of\u00a0<em>Cyclopoida<\/em>, <em>Calanoida<\/em>, water fleas (<em>Cladocera<\/em>), and <em>Rotifera<\/em>. The\u00a0resulting evaluation was very varied. Only one laboratory identified all species correctly.
